The tourist harbour in Genova, Italy, complete with many hustlers.

The aquarium was along the harbour as well. I spent most of the day here because I didn't know what else to do and I liked places where only speaking English wasn't an issue. Genova had one of the busiest sea-ports in Italy and the world back in its heyday and the aquarium and modernized harbour were a way to continue the legacy. The Mediterranean waters are home to many animals that we just don't see over here by the Pacific. The aquarium seemed really committed to increasing awareness and understanding and trying to teach respect for the seas and the life that lives within -- the only problem (or perhaps funny part) was that it seemed to be only the tourists who stopped to read the information, all the Italians raced on through in record time.
