new baby hellebore

my apartment has a lovely little view (if you like looking at mountains, docks, distant lights, and ocean) to the north. there is also a sweet little balcony that currently is home to a paint roller, our clothes drying rack, and joseph's soccer bag. it is concrete. it is in need of love.

enter helleborus ivory prince. a shade loving plant (often used to fill beds under tree branches) this hellebore has beautiful silver leaves and striking cream and lime blooms every spring -- hopefully.

along with it i have some irish moss, both waiting to be planted in a suitably lovely and organic planter. soon our balcony will be a shady oasis for the summer months. i can already smell it. now just to figure out a way to grow herbs and tomatoes with no direct sunlight...
