it's almost a new year.

mostly everyone i know is waiting on 2009 as though its coming is the only thing that has a chance of making up for everything that went wrong in 2008. i don't see why it's a bad plan, however i know from experience it can be tricky starting out a new year optimistically in -30 conditions.

this is the first new years that has really meant anything to me. for the first and likely the only time, the beginning of the year will be the start of a brand new life for me. joseph and i pack up all our belongings on january 1st and come the 2nd, we're outta here. we are no doubt tempting fate by driving in the continuing cold weather that is forcast and once we reach our destination we almost assuredly will not see sunlight for 2 months. but then there will be cherry blossoms and daffodils and i hear when it's nice, it's really nice.

today i am organizing, just as i will be doing tomorrow and the next day. i'm sorry i won't be having really solid visits with all my friends and i'm very sorry for those that i already missed out on having quality time with. but i'll miss you all and i'll try to keep you up to date and when 2009 starts sucking, please come for a visit. we'll go to the aquarium and get jerk pizza.

g'bye e.l.

yesterday was my last day at eden lilly. i didn't work hard (sorry guys.) very tired and a little drunk, julie and i had an impromptu visit in the bathroom.

and some more:

it's funny how when we have a lot of flowers to work with, none of my arrangements end up matching. maybe i'm more creative than i thought? although i did make essentially the same arrangement at least three times over a few days.

lil' taste of christmas

the top one was for my mom from a friend.
the christmas visiting is still not done. we move in 6 days.

i know it's a bit late...

but i would really like these for christmas.

i lost my camera battery a couple of weeks ago. somehow it didn't make it from the charger to the camera safely. i held out for a week hoping it would show up (still no luck) but finally had to buy a new one. so i am deeply apologetic for the lack of anything pretty to look at the last 3 weeks.

joseph and i had an early moving away party this past tuesday as we wanted to catch as many people as possible before the craziness of christmas set in. after indian buffet with four of my girlfriends the six of us headed to the strat (so picked by joseph for it's sure to be quiet atmosphere on a tuesday night.) we walked in through the door only to have a mass of sixty hefty men turn to face us. turns out we had scheduled our party the same night as the first platoon firefighter christmas party -- with bagpipes and rookie hazing and all. so we picked a place near the entrance and encouraged each of our frightened guests to come in and stay awhile as they entered with such great looks of confusion. it was a great night.

more flower photos coming soon.

one long week

after having to work a 10-day week, i have been more than happy to have yesterday and the next couple of days off. i went to get my eyes checked for the first time in years, turns out my eyes (or at least the worse one) have gotten better. i cannot wait to go look at frames that are ridiculously out of my price range (and then to unwisely buy them anyway.)
christmas flower arrangements have officially arrived -- i will immediately be putting bing crosby onto my ipod to play in the store.

ruby's new digs

she looks so annoyed because we came and intruded on her living room without invitation.

christmas gifts to cross off the list

yes, i went christmas shopping for myself this week, and so far i am way ahead of schedule.
the bottom 3 items are from vendors at the royal bison craft & art fair, on until tomorrow. the top item is heaven and is worth looking into.

cherry bombing

for some reason tonight seems like a good night to stay up watching runaways and beyonce videos on youtube and reading about the major israeli crime families.
now trying to find connections...

cooking with what's in the fridge

selection of flowers never seems extensive enough these days, but sometimes we really are working with the same few types of flowers (not the same flowers) for weeks at a time. creativity is challenged.

my love of fall...

though my love of fall is still existent, i have parted ways with the colour rules of the season (my own colour rules of fall that is). i am working on a new portfolio and trying to up the impact pieces and add more variation again.

left in the dark

so sorry.
in my defense i am in the middle of packing up my life and trying to figure out the best way to make it to the destination.
also the power adapter cord on my ibook bit the dust (of course joseph went and bought a new one -- $99 apple assholes -- the next day) so i spent a night with ruby reading and bathing and not watching gossip girl online.
